WELCOME

Welcome to the MORRIS-GAMMON FAMILY HISTORY site.

This is the pictorial and written story of Leslie Boon Morris and Treulia Jane Gammon in Lamar, Prowers, Colorado.  Both traveled to Colorado from the Leon, Iowa area in the late 1800's.  Leslie by covered wagon and Treulia by train.  Leslie homesteaded on one-sixty acres north of Lamar, married Treulia in the Lamar Methodist Church, lived in a dugout and raised a portion of their family in that mud hut.

Married March 7, 1898

This handsome and beautiful young couple are my grandparents.  My father is Winslow C. Morris the youngest and eighth son of Leslie and Treulia.  I grew up and went to school in Lamar, Colorado.  I remember my grandfather who died August 14, 1946, when I was only six years old and my grandmother who lived ten months shy of one hundred years old.  She died February 7, 1978.  He would chase me and other children down the hall of my home and she spent many hours helping with my home work ( Spelling in particular ).  I now live in Charlottesville, Virginia, close to my grandchildren.  I can be reached via e-mail at lgammorris@yahoo.com.

My co-author of this site is my second cousin who never new Leslie but did meet Treulia when a very young child.  She remembers this couple and other family members through family history pictures and stories.  Her grandfather was the seventh child of this couple.  She lives with her family in the Denver, Colorado area and can be reached via e-mail at blokken@comcast.net.

If you have additional Family History information please contact us.

We are interested in our Family History and Genealogy and want others particularly our family members and future family members to know about our heritage.  I believe we all want to know to some extend where we came from.
